FEBA Srl Custom Engineering

FEBA Srl, not only manufactures single knife log slitters, multi-shafted lathe slitting equipment, loggers, slitters-rewinders, sawing machines & laminators but also produces custom converting systems to meet the customer's specific requirements. Pictured above is the FEBA model 4L-400 EMDS fully automatic lathe slitting system designed to produce adhesive & non-adhesive tapes & similar materials. The system is equipped with a log holding device (container) which automatically loads the log x 2 onto an escalator, the escalator then places the logs onto the automatic log loading device, which in turn loads the logs onto the mandrels. Once the logs are in the proper position (log detection system) the turret rotates 180 degrees to commence the cutting cycle. During the slitting cycle, the next two logs are loaded onto the other two shafts on the turret so when the slitting cycle is complete, the turret will automatically rotate and begin the next slitting cycle. After the first two logs have been slit, and the mandrel has rotated another 180 degrees, the log loading device removes the slit product and unloads the finished materials onto a conveyor. The conveyor travels to the "log ejection device" which pushes the cut product (leaving the trim in place) onto a secondary conveyor that feeds the packaging line. The above sequence is all controlled through an OMRON color touch screen and the complete system is run by one operator.

The model 4L-400 custom converting system is also equipped with the new EMDS technology (Electro Magnetic Displacement System), which removes the need for lead screws and pistons, eliminates the need to lubricate the carriage displacement system, & improves cycles times by 35%. The EMDS model is automatically able to position the blade in relation to the external diameter of the log being slit (via sonar); automatically self centering the blade (via laser), irrespective of its diameter, or how much has been removed during the grinding/polishing process, which is essential for the correct usage of an automatic blade axis angle and CNC system. This system not only slashed cycle times when loading different diameters of material, but also when the operator has to change blades.
